I know, lots of us sighed with disdain when John Cusack was cast as Edgar Allan Poe in the upcoming movie The Raven (sidenote: why can't they make a movie out of Hop Frog?). But visually I think he makes a pretty good Poe.
Here's Edgar Allan Poe:
And here's John Cusack in the role:
But, as we all know, looks are only half the battle. Everyone on Twitter knows that John Cusack is a mega douchebag. So what do we think? Can he pull off the role?
Vote now!
I prefer SOMEONE ELSE to play Edgar Allen Poe.. I'm mad, that this will probably be a flop. Terribly.
ReplyDeleteJust because Cusack looks like Poe, doesn't always mean it has to be that actor.
I love Edgar Allen Poe, but damn. 'Nuff said. Lol.
No, I don't think he will, but that may be (as much as I risk MogulArmy's wrath) he's not a very good actor. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy his films, its just his expressions (all three of them) are always the same, and hes quite wooden, 2012 being a great example.
ReplyDeleteI just hoped Poe would be played by someone with a bit more depth.
@StarsMum
I disagree with the choice. I think John Cusak sucks.
ReplyDeleteYou guys have to read the trite John Cusack has tweeted or Facebook'd on the role. He masks his desperate hunt for an Oscar with artistic integrity.
ReplyDeleteI don't think a man who can't spell simple words on a tweet should pretend to play a literary great. (or act like a butthurt 5 year when called out in his crap spelling)
I feel like he is going to take EAP from dark and broody to emo and whiny. He will be the Edward Cullen of EAP's.
ReplyDeleteOMG! LMFAO! i LOVE John's comment.
ReplyDeleteOh God. He's such a douche canoe. I know that on some level, you need to separate the art from the artist, but having witnessed his little tantrums on Twitter, I just can't go there on this one.
ReplyDeleteCusack's Poe will stomp around the streets of 19th century Baltimore huffily ignoring people who correct his spelling.
Yeah he's a douche, especially on twitter, but he's a decent actor. So he'll be acting like Poe, not himself. But in the end it comes down to story, direction, and acting. If you go into it already hating one part of it, odds are you won't enjoy it.
